This self-paced online training course covers the details around the use of curriculum mapping and unit planning within SEQTA Teach for IB schools.
“ The success of education depends on adapting teaching to individual differences among learners” – Yuezheng, in 4th century B.C. China. The purpose of the course is to develop participants’ knowledge and understanding of the curriculum mapping and unit planner components of SEQTA Teach. All non-government schools in Australia are required to undertake re-registration every 5 years, and some form of vertical mapping of the curriculum is required as part of this process. The Unit planner is designed as a high-level planning tool, to map out topics, adherence to syllabus, content, differentiation and assessments etc and underpins the curriculum mapping facility. The curriculum mapping:
enables teachers and school leaders to reflect on the vertical articulation of the written curriculum
provides a horizontal view, allowing teachers to reflect upon common content and skills across subject groups in a particular year level
provides a record of how the school organises the subject group through the courses offered in various subjects and disciplines
This reflection enables schools to identify gaps and/or overlap in their curriculum, which may require teachers to modify units and lesson planning.
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL) addressed 2.2, 3.2, 3.6, 7.2
Access is given to the online content for 2 weeks and 1 week to the SEQTA Teach training site to complete any of the IB specific workshops/activities.
